EV Smart Home Charging Points

Home charging points are the most convenient way to charge your electric car if you have off-street parking. Not only can you top up overnight when electricity can be cheaper, but you can also rest assured that the charger will always be available when you arrive home. They come in many different types and brands, but they all serve the same purpose: to give your EV the power it needs to run.

The process of topping up an electric car’s battery is totally different to the petrol station experience most of us are familiar with. Understanding the various connectors and charging speeds can seem overwhelming initially, but get it right and there are huge running cost savings to be had. Unlike with petrol and diesel cars, you can fill up an electric car at home.

Smart charging is a safe and convenient way of charging your EV at times when demand for electricity is lower, for example at night, or when there is lots of renewable energy on the grid. Charging during these off-peak times not only reduces costs for EV drivers by using cheaper energy rates, but also helps to prevent unwanted intervals of really high demand for electricity from the grid.

Most EV users charge their vehicles when they arrive home from work in the evening, corresponding with peak demand on the grid. Using smart charging, you can still plug in your vehicle when you arrive home from work, but the charge point then manages and adjusts the vehicle’s charging to a time when electricity demand is lower

The average cost of a smart charge point will depend on the type of charge point and the features that are important to you, please get in contact to discuss your requirements.

If you have a business registered at your home address, you may qualify for the OZEV WCS Grant. See below for more information.

EV Workplace Charging Points

Having EV charge points installed at your workplace helps your company with your green targets and help promote green energy across your workforce. There are also financial incentives for both your business and employees due to the ambitious climate change targets, to help increase the number of electric cars on the road the UK government has created various subsidies and tax benefits, including the Workplace Charging Scheme.

The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points inclusive of VAT, capped at a maximum of £350 per socket with up to 40 sockets across all sites per applicant – for instance, if you would like to install them in 40 sites, you will have 1 socket available per site.
